Evaluation of some traits in barley (Hordeum vulgar) under drought stress

In order to evaluate ten barley genotypes under drought stress and non-stress conditions, two separate experiments were conducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications at the research station of Islamic Azad University of Firoozabad, Iran during 2009-2010 growing season. Every one of the experiments was in the same condition and the only existing difference among them was stopping the irrigation in one of the experiments at blooming stage till complete maturity stage. The analysis of variance condition was 48.48. S1×G2 and S2×G8 interaction effects had the highest and lowest amount of grain yield (725.83 and 142.94 gm-2, respectively). Based on the results of simple and combined analysis of variance of studied traits, Nosrat and Reyhan cultivars had the highest grain yield under drought stress and non-stress conditions, respectively and Kavir and Nimruz cultivars had the lowest grain yield in both stress and non-stress conditions.
