  • Abstract
ABSTRACT: The aim of current research is comparing active memory functions (visual-auditory) in normal children and children with slow learning. The research population consists of all the girl students of primary schools of Tehran in 3rd, 4th and 5th standards who are studying in 90-91 educational year. Research sample includes 125 students who have been selected with the use of clustering method randomly. The instruments of the current research includes tow sub-test of 15 scales of Wechsler intelligence test for children/ 4th edition (WISC_IV) in the active memory factor, i.e. 1- recalling figures or figures memory (including all three direct, reverse and total score forms), 2- calculation (working audithn jivhk lv;cory/verbal memory) and also we have used the Annexing parts scales (for assessing visual-nonverbal memory) which is included in the scales of Wechsler intelligence test for children/ 3th edition. And last we have used making sentences scale (working auditory/verbal memory) which is included in the farsi book of primary school. The gathered data was statistically analyzed and the findings indicate that there is a significant difference of active memory functions between normal students and those who are slow learners. Also active memory functions regarding the educational level and standard (3rd, 4th and 5th standards) have a significant difference. These findings can be effective for applications such as learning and teaching which has been discussed in the current paper.
