Abstract
In this paper, experimental versus numerical investigation into the effects of hoop welding in a metallic pressure vessel is presented. In experimental manufacturing, hoop welding has been used to attach the cylindrical body of the vessel. Hence, the effect of welding, on stress and strain distributions has been studied. Experimental strains are obtained using strain gauges attached to predetermined places and stresses are calculated using Hook’s law in composite materials. Results obtained from the two methods are compared.
