Effectiveness of group counseling with reality therapy approach on identity crisis and general health of female students of vocational schools in Tehran city district-16 in the 91-90 school year

This research studied effectiveness of group counseling with reality therapy approach on those students who suffered from identity crisis and mental health weaknesses based on pre-test results of personal identity and general health questionnaires. They discussed the fundamental issues of life such as education, occupation, gender, planning and future goals and moved toward achieving a successful identity and mental health as a result of attending in group counseling sessions. 34 subjects of this research were selected among girl students of vocational schools randomly. These students had answered a questionnaire on personal identity that showed high identity crisis. Also they were not in normal situation according to general health questionnaire. The samples were placed in the control and experimental groups by odd-even method. Experimental groups attended in 10 consecutive 90-minute group counseling and control group remained unchanged. At the end of the session all groups (controls and experimental) responded the questionnaires of general health and identity crisis as post-test simultaneously. To analyze the data collected from pre and post tests of groups and by considering that there were more than two groups in this study, Statistical Analysis of variance was used. Based on findings both hypotheses of this study were confirmed. This means that Group counseling with reality therapy approach is effective on identity crisis and general health weaknesses of students and reduces them significantly.
