Abstract
Despite the active development of tourism sector for more than 60 years, a general consensus regarding the interpretation of the essence of tourism as a whole and its conceptual apparatus hasn’t been reached yet. Educational tourism has a similar problem; nowadays there is no accurate definition of this type of tourism as an economic category. In the present article, existing approaches to the definition of educational tourism are examined, the author’s definition of educational tourism as an economic category is formulated, and a new economic category (educational tourist product) is introduced.
