A Unique Pattern in the Love Poetry of Mulay ḥb. al-Ḥakam

In a previous article published in this journal (Ali A. Hussein, “One Qaīda with Several Chaste Love Affairs in Light of al-Mufaaliyyāt and al-Ama‘iyyāt,” Middle Eastern Literatures, 14/1 (April 2011), pp. 1–19, a discussion of the inclusion of two or more chaste love affairs in the same poem was conducted. There, we treated some qaīdas included in the two famous compilations al-Mufaaliyyāt and al-Ama‘iyyāt. This article is a continuation of that study. Here, the poems composed by Mulay b. al-akam that include mention of more than one love affair will be studied. At the end of this article, the unique qualities of Mulayʹs poetry in this domain will be highlighted.
