We consider equations of the formF(x, y, αx, βy)=0 in integer unknownsxandy, whereFis a polynomial with complex coefficients, andαandβare non-zero complex numbers. We prove, outside of some exceptional cases, that if such an equation has infinitely many solutions, thenαandβare algebraic.
