Computational initiatives in hazardous chemical mitigation

During the past few decades there have been several serious initiatives focusing the applications of computational technology towards understanding the diverse fields of environmental research such as the hazardous chemical mitigation. Recently, due to the wide spread application of high performance computer technology and the renewed interest of the industrial community in environmental protection, we are witnessing an era of environmental information explosion. This paper attempts to highlight the results of one of those important initiatives undertaken by the United States Environmental Protection Agencyʹs(EPA) National Environmental Supercomputing Center (NESC). In the light of these large-scale computer oriented developments, the author also identifies yet another desirable initiative solely devoted for environmental database integration and information management.
