Estimated intake of PCDDs, PCDDs and co-planar PCBs in individuals from Madrid (Spain) eating an average diet

The estimated intake of PCDD/Fs and co-planar PCBs associated with an average diet consumed in Spain was investigated. The estimated total average intake for PCDDs and PCDDs from an average spanish diet was found to be 142 pg I-TEQ/day (2.4 pg I-TEQ/Kg b.w./day, for a 60 Kg person). PCDDs provided almost 80% of the total dioxin equivalents. This represents the estimate. If concentrations less than the LOD are taken as equal to zero, then the estimated average intake would be 81 pg I-TEQ/day which is the estimate. Data reported are in good agreement with those reported for other countries.
