A new quanntifing TOC and COD methodology for the determination of organic compounds and particulate carbon directly on fly ash of MSWI

This paper presents a methodology for preparing a “reagent” sample to study the formation reaction of PCDD/F from the carbon embedded on fly ash without any modification in the structure of the raw fly ash. The methodology combines Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SEE) of the organic compounds with Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) as control techniques.
