The sorption-desorption behavior of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate in marine sediments

The sorption-desorption behavior of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulphonate (LAS) on marine sediments from three different areas of the Thermaikos Gulf in Northern Greece was studied. The sorption of LAS on sediments is satisfactorily described by the Freundlich Equation. Positive correlation exists between the sorption of LAS and the organic matter. Unlike sorption (1/n ≠ 1), the desorption isotherms were linear (1/n = 1) for all three types of sediments.
