Landscape diversity changes in Estonia

This paper discusses landscape diversity dynamics in Estonia during the 20th century. The analysis of maps from four different time periods in terms of 12 diversity indicators shows that landscape diversity changes in Estonia are minor. Still there remain some regional differences. A principal component analysis indicates four types of diversity, namely, shape of the patch, ‘classicalʹ diversity, land use, and number of units, which explain 80% of the whole variability of landscape change.
