The Symmetry Groups of Linear Partial Differential Equations and Representation Theory, 1

We study the symmetry groups of three closely related PDEs. It is shown that the symmetry groups for these equations are actually global Lie groups and that the symmetry operations arise from standard group representation theory via intertwining operators derived from the fundamental solutions of the equations.
