Protein-ligand interactions. 6 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist activity of isoquinoline alkaloids

Fluorimetry and spectrophotometry have been used to study the binding of several isoquinoline alkaloids to nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, isolated and purified from Torpedo fuscomaculata. Analysis indicates that the ligands are true agonists of the receptor exhibiting positive cooperative binding with more than one class of binding sites.
