Evaluation of the percentage of pollen germination of superior pollinizers of date palm in Kerman province in different storage conditions

Evaluation of the percentage of pollen germination of superior pollinizer stocks is considered as a specific importance for the role of pollen in improvement of quality and quantity of the yield. This experiment was carried out with the aim of evaluation of the percentage of pollen germination and the best condition of pollen storage. In this experiment, percentage of pollen germination in different storage conditions (fresh pollen, room temperature, freezer and refrigerator) was evaluated. A factorial test based on completely randomized design was used to analyze the data. According to the statistical analysis and comparison between treatments by Duncanʹs test, the percentage of fresh pollen germination and preserve of viability of stored pollen, the Bam and Karimabad-3 pollinizers were selected as the superior stocks in compare to others. In evaluation of the proper pollen storage condition in order to preserve viability by mean of next year pollen usage, pollen of Karimabad-3 pollinizer in refrigerator condition and pollen of Bam pollinizer in freezer and refrigerator conditions showed the highest percentage of germination in compare to the fresh pollen of other pollinizers.
