Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of tricyclodecane-9-yl-xanthogenate (D609) on the survival of neural stem cells (NSCs), which were isolated from rat forebrain, we treated the NSCs with D609 in the presence of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). We found that when NSCs were exposed to 18.76–56.29 μM D609, the viability of the cells remarkably declined and apoptosis occurred. At the same time, the ROS level in NSCs was depressed. The data suggested that D609 was a powerful growth inhibitor and apoptosis inducer in NSCs.
