Abstract
An algorithm for determining the Jordan normal form of a matrix is presented. The algorithm implements the geometric approach given by Gantmacher. Using this algorithm, structures of the Jordan blocks of the matrix can be completely determined by means of symbolic computation. The approximation of eigenvalues of the matrix has no influence on this structure.
