Semigroup ideals and linear diophantine equations Original Research Article

We give a purely algebraic algorithm to calculate the ideal of a semigroup with torsion. As application and using Gröbner bases, we provide an algorithm to determine whether a linear system of equations with integer coefficients having some of the equations in congruences admits non-negative integer solutions.
