Structure theorem for the rotation group over Q Original Research Article

We present a proof of that SO3(Q) is not a simple group, using a quaternion cover for SO3(Q). Moreover, we show that the set of square matrices in SO3(Q) is a normal subgroup. Using that result we give a proof of that the derived group of SO3(Q) is the kernel of homomorphism that maps SO3(Q) onto the countably infinite group circled plusωZ2.
