Simultaneous symmetrization Original Research Article

Let image be a linear subspace of real matrices such that each matrix image is similar to a symmetric matrix. It is shown that the maximal dimension of image is n(n+1)/2; and if the dimension of image is maximal, it is proven that the linear space image is simultaneously symmetrizable; i.e., there exists a real invertible matrix such that P−1AP is symmetric for all image.
