Abstract
Threatspots are defined as areas having a high diversity of rare and threatened species. The paper examines whether or not threatspots for a particular taxon coincide with threatspots for other taxa at the regional level in Greece. A simple formula of conservation value is used to determine areas that are most biologically rich in threatened species in Greece using bird, mammal and plant species distribution data, available from the European Unionʹs CORINE-biotopes database. The identification of a threatspot is dependent on the quality (essentially the spatial resolution) of speciesʹ distribution data. The threatspot for a taxonomic group contains a significant proportion of the species of the other groups.
