A two-dimensional copper(II) coordination polymer comprising discrete left- and right-handed helical chains

A novel two-dimensional copper(II) coordination polymer comprising discrete left-handed and right-handed helical chains bridged by 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane (dpp), [{Cu2(dpp)2(H2O)2(dpa)2}(H2O)2(CH3OH)2]n (1) (H2dpa ¼ diphenic acid), has been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The hydrogen bonding interactions between the adjacent layers extend 1 into a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. q 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
