Abstract
This historical perspective of Danish sheep farming explains the basis of the country’s highly
successful, modern sheep industry. The reasons for the low prevalence of infectious diseases
are explained, underpinning the proactive and innovative role that has been taken by
private vets in flock health planning and disease control
