The hydrophobic heat-capacity anomaly

The excess heat capacity of a hydrophobic solute in water is calculated for four different models, all with closed-loop solubility curves: (i) a phenomenological model based on a modified regular-solution-theory equation of state; (ii) a decorated lattice-gas model equivalent to an underlying Ising model; and (iii) and (iv) van der Waals-like solution models incorporating accurate hard-sphere equations of state.
