Abstract
A perturbation solution of the flow of blood in the microcirculation is presented. The rheological properties of blood have been represented by regarding the blood as two-phase Newtonian fluid, that is, a suspension of cells in plasma. It is assumed that the exchange of fluid across the capillary wall obeys Starlingʹs hypothesis, that is, the rate of flow per unit area through the wall surface is proportional to the difference between the pressure of the fluid within and outside of the capillary. The expressions for the velocity and pressure distributions within the tube are obtained. Discussions are made from a physiological point of view with the help of graphs.
