Compactification of supermembranes Original Research Article

We look at the vertical dimensional reduction of the supermembrane of M-theory to the D2-brane of Type IIA string theory. We explicitly calculate the metric for the periodic array required for the vertical reduction relating the low energy solutions of the underlying supergravity theories. We then proceed to analyse the eleven-dimensional metric from a global viewpoint extending past the horizon of the M2-brane in D=11 supergravity.
