Abstract
Acomputercodesphincssolvescoupledphenomenaofthermalhydraulicsandsodiumfirebasedonamulti-zonemodel.Itdealswithanarbitrarynumberofrooms,eachofwhichisconnectedmutuallybydoorwaysandpenetrations.Withregardtothecombustionphenomena,aflamesheetmodelandaliquiddropletcombustionmodelareusedforpoolandsprayfires,respectively,withthechemicalequilibriummodelbasedontheGibbsfreeenergyminimizationmethod.Thechemicalreactionandmassandheattransferaresolvedinteractively.Aspecificfeatureofsphincsisdetailedrepresentationofthermalhydraulicsofasodiumpoolandasteelliner,whichisplacedonthefloortopreventsodium–concretecontact.Theauthorsanalyzedaseriesofpoolcombustionexperiments,inwhichgasandlinertemperaturesaremeasuredindetail.Ithasbeenfoundthatgoodagreementisobtainedandthesphincscodehasbeenvalidatedwithregardtopoolcombustionphenomena.Furtherresearchneedsareidentifiedforpoolspreadingmodelingconsideringthermaldeformationofsteellinerandmeasurementofpoolfluiditypropertyasamixtureofliquidsodiumandreactionproducts.Thesphincscodeistobeusedmainlyinthesafetyevaluationoftheconsequenceofasodiumfireaccidentinaliquidmetalcooledfastreactoraswellasfiresafetyanalysisingeneral.
