Abstract
Anewmodelforupwardverticalsubcooledflowboilingatlowpressurehasbeenproposed.Themodelconsidersthemostrelevantclosurerelationshipsofone-dimensionalthermal-hydrauliccodesthatareimportantforaccuratepredictionofvapourcontentsinthechannel:wallevaporationmodel,condensationmodel,flowregimetransitioncriterionanddrift-fluxmodel.ThenewmodelwasincorporatedinthecurrentversionoftheRELAP5code,MOD3.2.2Gamma.Themodifiedcodewasvalidatedagainstanumberofpublishedlow-pressuresubcooledboilingexperiments,andincontrasttothecurrentcode,showsgoodagreementwithexperimentaldata.Thepresentedanalysisalsoleadstoabetterunderstandingofthebasicmechanismsofsubcooledflowboilingatlowpressure.
