Abstract
Thispaperproposesengineeringestimationequationsforthemaximumdeflectionofacylindersubjecttobendingunderelastic–plasticandelastic–creepconditions.Beingbasedonthereferencestressapproach,theproposedequationsaresimpletouseandcanaccommodategeneraltensileandcreepbehaviors.Validationagainstdetailed3Dfiniteelement(FE)resultsusingactualstress–straindataandrealisticcreep-deformationdatashowsexcellentagreement,whichprovidesconfidenceintheuseoftheproposedequation.Basedontheproposedequations,togetherwithinformationonin-serviceinspectiondata,discussionisgivenhowtoestimatefuturetime-dependentandtime-independentdeflectionoftheCANDUpressuretube.Thus,thepresentresultwouldbevaluableinformationforintegrityassessmentoftheCANDUpressuretube.
