  • Abstract
    Inthesteamgeneratorsofnuclearpowerplants,theflowofcoolingwatercancausethetubestovibrate,resultinginfrettingweardamageduetocontactsbetweenthesetubesandtheirsupports.ThetubesaremadeofInconel690andInconel600andthesupportsaremadeofSTS304.Inthispaper,frettingweartestsinwaterwereperformedusingthematerialsInconel690andInconel600incontactwithSTS304.Frettingtestsusingacross-cylindertypesetupwereconductedundervariousvibratingamplitudesandappliednormalloadsinordertomeasurefrictionforcesandwearvolumes.Also,conventionalslidingtestsusingapin-on-disktypesetupwerecarriedouttocomparethesetestresults.
