  • Abstract
    Fracturemechanicsanalysisisthekeyelementoftheintegrityevaluationofthenuclearreactorpressurevessel(RPV),suchasthepressurizedthermalshock(PTS)analysisandP–Tlimitcurveconstruction.However,theexistenceofstainlesssteelcladding,withdifferentthermal,physical,andmechanicalpropertyattheinnersurfaceofreactorpressurevesselcomplicatesthefracturemechanicsanalysis.Inthispaper,thesimpleanalyticaltreatmentschemestocalculatethestressandresultingstressintensityfactoratthetipoftheflawsintheRPVwithstainlesssteelcladdingareintroduced.Forareferencethermal–hydraulicboundarycondition,theeffectsofcladdingthermalconductivityandthermalexpansioncoefficientsonthestressintensityfactorofsurfaceflawswereexamined.Also,theeffectsofcladdingplasticityandthicknesswerequantitativelyexamined.TheanalysisresultsshowedthattheexistenceofthestainlesscladdinghadsignificantimpactsontheRPVfailureprobabilities.
