Abstract
Pressurizedwatervessel-typereactor(VVER)safetyhasbecomeaveryimportantissue,inparticularforcountriesinCentralandEasternEurope.Forthermal-hydraulicanalysesthewesterncodeslikeRELAP5,CATHAREandATHLETwereused.
ThepurposeofthestudywastoquantitativelyassesstheRELAP5capabilitytopredictthemaincirculationpump(MCP)tripatnearlyfullpowertransientinMochovceVVER440/213nuclearpowerplant(NPP).Thetransientparameterswererecordedduringthestartuptestprogramimplementation.ForaccuracyquantificationtheimprovedfastFouriertransformbasedmethod(FFTBM)wasused.TheRELAP5/MOD3.2.2computercodewasusedforcalculation.Theresultsshowedverygoodagreementbetweencalculatedandplantmeasureddata.Theresultsalsoconfirmedsomepreviousstudiesthatthesimpleristhetransientthehighercodeaccuracyisgenerallyachieved.
