Abstract
Failureanalysisofin-servicenuclearpipingcontainingdefectsisanimportantsubjectinthenuclearpowerplants.Consideringtheuncertaintiesinvariousinternaloperatingloadingsandexternalforces,includingearthquakeandwind,flawsizes,materialfracturetoughnessandflowstress,thispaperpresentsaprobabilisticassessmentmethodologyforin-servicenuclearpipingcontainingdefects,whichisespeciallydesignedforprogramming.Ageneralsamplingcomputationmethodofthestressintensityfactor(SIF),intheformoftherelationshipbetweentheSIFandtheaxialforce,bendingmomentandtorsion,isadoptedintheprobabilisticassessmentmethodology.Thisrelationshiphasbeensuccessfullyusedindevelopingthesoftware,SafetyAssessmentSystemofIn-servicePressurePipingContainingFlaws(SAPP-2003),basedonawell-knownengineeringsafetyassessmentprocedureR6.AnumericalexampleisgiventoshowtheapplicationoftheSAPP-2003software.Thefailureprobabilitiesofeachdefectandthewholepipingcanbeobtainedbythissoftware.
