Abstract
DuringaHypotheticalCoreDisruptiveAccidentinaLiquidMetalFastBreederReactor,itisassumedthatthecoreofthenuclearreactormeltsdownpartiallyandthattheinteractionbetweenhotmoltenfuelandrelativelycoldliquidsodiumcreatesahigh-pressuregasbubbleinthecore.Theviolentexpansionofthisbubbleloadsanddeformsthereactorvesselandtheinternalstructures,thusendangeringthesafetyofthenuclearplant.
TheMARA10experimentaltestsimulatesaCoreDisruptiveAccidentina1/30-scalemock-upschematisingareactorblock.Inthemock-up,theliquidsodiumcoolingthereactorcoreisreplacedbywaterandtheargonblanketlayingbelowthereactorroofissimulatedbyanairblanket.Theexplosionistriggeredbyanexplosivecharge.
ThispaperpresentssomemodelsavailablewithintheEUROPLEXUScodetosimulateaCoreDisruptiveAccidentandananalysisofthecomputedresults.Inparticular,resultsarecomparedwithexperimentalmeasurementsandpreviousnumericalsimulationscarriedoutwiththecodesSIRIUSandCASTEM-PLEXUS.
