Abstract
Thehightemperatureengineeringtestreactor(HTTR),whichisthefirsthightemperaturegas-cooledreactor(HTGR)inJapan,isatestreactorwithathermaloutputof30MW,anditcanprovideheatwithtemperatureofupto950°C.ThecoolingsystemoftheHTTRcontainstheprimarycoolingsystem,thesecondaryheliumcoolingsystem,thepressurizedwater-coolingsystemandtheresidualheatremovalsystem.
Thestructuralintegrityofthehightemperaturecomponentsuchastheheattransfertubesoftheintermediateheatexchanger(IHX)wasevaluatedbyanalysisandnon-destructiveinspectionssincetheyareexposedtothecoolanttemperatureshigherthan900°Cduringoperation.Theresultsshowedthattherewasnoproblemonthestructuralintegrity.
Thispaperdescribesdesigndetailsofthecoolingsystemandthetypicalstructuralevaluationresultsforhightemperaturecomponents.
