  • Abstract
    Toensuresafety,itisnecessarytoassesstheintegrityofareactorvesselofliquid-metalfastbreederreactor(LMFBR)underHCDA.Severalimportantproblemsforafluid-structuralinteractionanalysisofHCDAarediscussedinthepresentpaper.Variousloadingmodelsofhypotheticalcoredisruptiveaccident(HCDA)arecomparedandthepolytropicprocessesofideagas(PPIG)lawisrecommended.Inordertodefinealimitedtotalenergyrelease,a“5%truncationcriterion”issuggested.Therelationshipofinitialpressureofgasbubbleandthetotalenergyreleaseisgiven.TotrackthemovinginterfacesandtoavoidtheseveremeshdistortionanarbitraryLagrangrian–Eulerian(ALE)approachisadoptedinthefiniteelementmodeling(FEM)analysis.Liquidseparationandsplashfromafreesurfacearediscussed.Byusinganelasticitysolutionunderlocallyuniformpressure,twosimplifiedanalyticalsolutionsfor3Dandaxi-symmetriccaseoftheliquidimpactpressureonroofslabarederived.Anaxi-symmetricfiniteelementscodeFRHCDAforfluid-structureinteractionanalysisofhypotheticalcoredisruptiveaccidentinLMFBRisdeveloped.TheCONTbenchmarkproblemiscalculated.Thenumericalresultsagreewellwiththosefrompublishedpapers.
