  • Abstract
    Thesteamgeneratorinanuclearpowerplantisalargeheatexchangerthatusesheatfromareactortogeneratesteamtodrivetheturbinegenerator.Ruptureofasteamgeneratortubecanresultinreleaseoffissionproductstoenvironmentoutside.Therefore,anaccurateintegrityassessmentofthesteamgeneratortubeswithcracksisofgreatimportanceformaintainingthesafetyofanuclearpowerplant.Thesteamgeneratortubesaresupportedatregularintervalsbytubesupportplatesandrotationsofthetubesarerestrained.Althoughithasbeenreportedthatthelimitloadforacircumferentialcrackissignificantlyaffectedbyboundaryconditionofthetube,existinglimitloadsolutionsdonotconsidertherestrainingeffectoftubesupportplatecorrectly.Inaddition,therearenolimitloadsolutionsforcircumferentialcracksinU-bendregionwiththeeffectoftubesupportplate.ThispaperprovidesdetailedlimitloadsolutionsforcircumferentialcracksintopoftubesheetandtheU-bendregionsofthesteamgeneratortubewiththeactualboundaryconditionstosimulatetherestrainingeffectofthetubesupportplate.Suchsolutionsaredevelopedbasedonthree-dimensional(3-D)finiteelementanalyses.Theresultinglimitloadsolutionsaregiveninapolynomialform,andthuscanbesimplyusedinpracticalintegrityassessmentofthesteamgeneratortubes.
