Abstract
Inthispaper,theinelasticanalysisproceduresrecommendedtouseintheadvancedelevatedtemperaturestructuraldesignguideunderdevelopmentinJapanfortheimproveddesignoffuturefastbreederreactorswerevalidatedthroughthestructuralmodeltestsandtheevaluationoftheexperimentalresultsbytheinelasticanalyses.First,athermalfatiguetestofa316FRhollowcylinderwithtwolongitudinalweldmentswasconductedundertheconditionofcombinedconstantaxialloadandcyclicmovementofaxialtemperaturedistribution,whichsimulatedtheloadingconditionnearthefreesurfaceofcoolantsodiuminthemainvesseloffastbreederreactors(FBRs).Intheexperiments,longitudinalandradialratchetingdeformationweremeasuredandcrackinitiationlifewasalsoexamined.Second,theinelasticanalyseswerecarriedoutinaccordancewiththerecommendedprocedurebyusingthemeasuredresultsofoscillatingtemperaturedistribution.Finally,theresultsofinelasticanalyseswerecomparedwiththeexperimentalresultsanditwasvalidatedthattherecommendedpracticegaveaconservativeresultforthedeformationandagoodestimationofstrainrangeforthefatiguelifeevaluation.
