Abstract
Themultiscalemodelisproposedtoexplicitlyaccountfortheinhomogeneousstructureofpolycrystallinematerials.GrainsandgrainboundariesaremodeledexplicitlyusingVoronoitessellation.Theconstitutivemodelofcrystalgrainsutilizesanisotropicelasticityandcrystalplasticity.Commerciallyavailablefiniteelementcodeisappliedtosolvetheboundaryvalueproblemdefinedatthemacroscopicscale.Noassumptionregardingthedistributionofthemesoscopicstrainandstressfieldsisused,apartthefiniteelementdiscretization.Theproposedmodelisthenusedtoestimatetheminimumsizeofpolycrystallineaggregateofselectedreactorpressurevesselsteel(22NiMoCr37),abovewhichitcanbeconsideredmacroscopicallyhomogeneous.Elasticandrate-independentplasticdeformationmodesareconsidered.Theresultsarevalidatedbytheexperimentalandsimulationresultsfromtheliterature.
