Abstract
Themainfunctionofthereactorcontainment,i.e.toensuretightnessatamajorinternalaccident,dependsdirectlyontheprestressingsystem.Tosecurethattheprestresslevelissufficient,thetendonforcehasbeenmeasuredduringthewholetimeofoperation.Thegeneralresultsfromthesemeasurementsshowthatthelossofprestress30yearsaftertensioningisbetween5and10%.Thisismuchlowerlossthanpredictedinitiallyatthedesignstage.Moreadvancedandtodaycommonlyusedmodelsforpredictingprestresslossshowbetteragreementwiththeresults.Themainreasonsfortherelativelylowlossareassumedtobe:(1)theconfirmedslowdryingprocessoftheconcreteand(2)thehighconcreteageattheinitialtensioning.Theresultsalsoindicatethatthetemperaturehasamajorinfluenceonthelossofprestress.
