Abstract
ThepredictionofheattransferbetweencoriumpoolandconcretebasematisofparticularsignificanceintheframeworkofthestudyofPWRʹssevereaccident.Heattransferdirectlygovernstheablationvelocityofconcreteincaseofmoltencoreconcreteinteraction(MCCI)and,consequently,thetimedelaywhenthereactorcavitymayfail.Fromarestrictedhydrodynamicpointofview,thisissueisrelatedtoheattransferbetweenaheatedbubblingpoolandaporouswallwithgasinjection.Severalexperimentalstudieshavebeenperformedwithsimulantmaterialsandmanycorrelationshavebeenprovidedtoaddressthisissue.Thecomparisonsoftheresultsofthesecorrelationswiththemeasurementsandtheirextrapolationtoreactormaterialsshowthatstrongdiscrepanciesbetweentheresultsofthesemodelsareobtainedwhichprobablymeansthatsomephenomenaarenotwelltakenintoaccount.Themainpurposeofthispaperistopresentanalternativeheattransfermodelwhichwasoriginallydevelopedforchemicalengineeringapplications(bubblecolumns)byDeckwer.Apartofthisworkisdevotedtothepresentationofthismodel,whichisbasedonasurfacerenewalassumption.Comparisonoftheresultsofthismodelwithavailableexperimentaldataindifferentsystemsarepresentedanddiscussed.ThesecomparisonsclearlyshowthatthismodelcanbeusedtodealwiththeparticularproblemofMCCI.Theanalysesalsoleadtoenrichtheoriginalmodelbytakingintoaccountthethermalresistanceofthewall:anewformulationoftheDeckwerʹscorrelationisfinallyproposed.
