Abstract
Inthepresentpaper,aprobabilisticfailureanalysisisusedtofindfailureprobabilitiesofpipingsegments,andaprobabilisticriskassessmentmodelisemployedtoobtainriskstoanuclearpowerplantshouldthesefailuresoccur.Themultiplicationofthepipingfailureprobabilityandtheconsequenceforthatparticularfailureresultsintheriskcontributionofthepipe.Thedegreesofriskfordifferentpipingsegmentscanthenberanked,andtheirresultscanbeusedasthebasisforplanningarisk-informedinserviceinspectionprogram.Numericalstudiesareofferedwithspecialemphaseson:(1)thestatusandexperiencewithRI-ISIapplicationsinTaiwan;(2)thecomparisonofrisk-rankingsperformedwiththreedifferentmethodsdevelopedintheUS;(3)aspectsoftheprobabilisticfracturemechanicscalculationincludingtheflawsizedistributionsandstresscorrosioncrackingmodel.Theresultsindicatetheproposedmethodcanindeedbeadoptedforplanningacosteffectiveinserviceinspectionprogram.
