Abstract
Ifaflowobstaclesuchasaspacerisplacedinaboilingtwo-phaseflowwithinachannel,thetemperatureonthesurfaceoftheheatingtubeisseverelyaffectedbytheexistenceofthespacer.Undercertainconditionsthespacerhasacoolingeffect,andunderotherconditionsthespacercausesdryoutofthecoolingwaterfilmontheheatingsurface,resultinginburnoutofthetube.Theburnoutmechanismnearthespacer,however,remainsunclear.
Inapreviouspaper(Fukano,T.,Mori,S.,Akamatsu,S.,Baba,A.,2002.Relationbetweentemperaturefluctuationofaheatingsurfaceandgenerationofdrypatchcausedbyacylindricalspacerinaverticalboilingtwo-phaseupwardflowinanarrowannularchannel.Nucl.Eng.Des.217,81–90),wereportedthatthedisturbancewavehasasignificanteffectondryoutoccurrence.Therefore,inthepresentpaper,therelationbetweendryout,burnoutoccurrence,andintervalbetweentwosuccessivedisturbancewavesobtainedfromthedifferentialpressurefluctuationcausedbythedisturbancewavespassingbyaspacer,isfurtherdiscussedindetail.
