  • Abstract
    Aninnovativein-corefluxmappingsystemhasbeendevelopedandappliedsuccessfullyforserviceincommercialpressurizedwaterreactors.Withthebenefitofdoubleindexingpathselectormechanism,thereliabilityofthedetectordrivesystemhasbeenimprovedfivetimeshigherthanthatofaconventionalsystem.Theproblemscausedbystrongfrictiongeneratedbetweenthedetectorcableandguidetubeshavebeenresolvedbythedoubleindexingpathselectorarchitectureenablingthedetectorguidetubestohavesmallercurvatureandshorterlengthinnature.Thesystemnormallyexertstwo-thirdsofforcetomakethedetectorreachthetopofthefuelposition,comparedwithconventionalones.Inaddition,simpleandfastmaintenanceisrealizedbyoptimizingthenumberofcomponentsinthedetectordrivesystemandprovidingeasyaccesstothecomponents,therebyguaranteeingminimumradiationexposuretomaintenancepersonnel.Theprogrammablelogiccontroller-baseddigitalcontrollerwithWindows®-basedoperatorconsoleprovidesfullyautomatedanduser-friendlyoperationandmaintenancesupportmeans.Thedevelopedin-corefluxmappingsystemshavebeendeployedattheKorinuclearunits1–4.
