Controlling unstable periodic orbits in a Bonhoeffer-van der Pol equation

In this paper, controlling of chaotic dynamics by stabilizing desired unstable periodic orbits embedded in a chaotic attractor of a Bonhoeffer-van der Pol (BVP) equation is studied using recently proposed three control algorithms [1–4]. A comparative study of these methods is made. Variation of correction signal with time, dependence of recovery time on the stiffness of the control signal and stability region show different characteristic features in the three control schemes.
