B = 2 toroidal soliton in a chiral quark meson model

We find the baryon number two solution of a SU(2) quark soliton model based on chiral invariant quark-meson couplings. The solution is classically stable and has an axial symmetry associated with it. The energy distribution corresponding to the soliton is toroidal in nature. The results closely parallel the Skyrme-model calculations. The symmetries of the solution indicate that the ground state of this soliton has the quantum numbers of the deuteron.
