Enhancement of voltage stability by an optimal selection of load following units

In this paper we examine how the voltage stability and control of power systems can be enhanced by an appropriate choice of load following units. An algorithm is proposed to optimize this choice using the relationship between reactive power limits in the system and voltage instability. A variety of experiments are presented for the IEEE 118 bus system, with seventh order two axis generator models.
