Abstract
The growth of instabilities of finite nuclear systems at low densities is investigated using a fluid dynamical approach. For a sufficiently large source several multiple modes up to an ultraviolet cut-off become unstable with nearly the same growth rate, indicating that the system may develop towards different fragmentation channels with nearly equal probability.
