Abstract
It makes sense to retain some broad exposure to stocks during a secular bear market, providing one is willing to take mediumterm profits. This article presents a strategy called value averaging, which harvests medium-term profits. Value averaging is a modified form of dollar cost averaging. Both strategies are examples of "formula investing.".
