Abstract
An analysis of various arithmetic averaging procedures is undertaken for an approximate Riemann solver for the one-dimensional Euler equations governing the compressible flow of an ideal gas. This study draws on earlier work for both the reduced set of equations governing shallow water flows and the full Euler equations, and is ultimately intended for use with the equations governing two-dimensional steady and unsteady compressible flows.
